In memory of

Afterglow

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

The family is overwhelmed with the outpouring of kind words and gestures these last few days. Many have asked how they can express their sympathies in lieu of flowers. If you would like to send a Memorial Donation for Fatima, the Donation option on the top menu will direct you to Hospice Wellington ( https://www.hospicewellington.org/donations )
Thank you

Fatima was an excellent seamstress. She hemmed school uniform pants for our grandsons as well as alterations and repairs to other pieces of clothing. She was so proud when she could help out her friends. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Ladies’ Guild and we will all miss her smiling face.
In loving friendship and sympathy to her family,
Judie and Ron and family

THE BEGINNING

My mother Fatima was born in Terceria,an island in the Azores archipelago. She grew up with in a very large extended family. Fatima was first introduced to sewing by her mother; in fact her first job was teaching others to sew. However those teaching days did not last long. At the age of 23, Fatima left Terceria on a plane with her younger sister Maria for Canada in 1970.

They arrived in Canada unprepared for the cold spring day. It was 49 years ago today (March 21).

A year later my mother met and married the love of her life.
