Evelyn Martin (nee Irving)
December 10, 1937 to January 8, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and loss, we announce the passing of Evelyn Martin.

Predeceased by her parents, William Rowan Irving and Catherine Finnie Irving. Beloved wife of the late Nicholas Martin. Survived by her dearest sister, Gladys; her nephews, John (Dianne) and Douglas; her step-sons, Montgomery (Beatriz), Marshall (Ashleigh and family) and Gregory; her step-grandchild, Quirin (Shawna and family); other family and friends.

Evelyn was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland and she moved to Canada in 1962. Evelyn settled in Toronto, Ontario, and she was a switchboard receptionist for many years. She worked for RedPath Sugar for most of her career and was an industrial relations clerk before her retirement.

In 1994, Evelyn married her longtime companion, Nicholas, and they enjoyed many happy years together before his death in 2009. Evelyn was also very close to her sister, Gladys, and they shared countless stories and laughs over the years. Evelyn was a kind and loving lady who will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

A special thanks to Evelyn's health care and support teams at St. Michael's Hospital, Sinai Health, Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital, VHA Home HealthCare and Spectrum Health Care and also to her condo building security and staff.

A private funeral service for Evelyn shall be held at York Cemetery and Funeral Centre on February 1, 2025. No flowers please.
