In memory of

Evdokia Marangos

July 13, 1937 -  February 19, 2025

On Wednesday February 19, 2025, Evda passed away at the age of 87 surrounded by her family. Evda was born in Sveta Petka, Greece on July 13, 1937, to parents Thomas and Bessera.

Evda is now peacefully reunited with her husband, Nick Marangos, who predeceased her on August 21, 2014. Evda will be deeply missed by her children, Dennis (Nadine) and Sandy, her grandchildren, Matthew (Carly), Jessica (Ryan), Patrick (Alanna) and Samantha, and her great-grandson, Oliver.

A woman known for her warmth, kindness, generosity and her devotion to the Church. She was an expert baker and loved knitting. Evda leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories with friends and family near and far. After moving to Toronto, she started working at her uncle’s restaurant in the City’s west end and later worked at Parkhurst (Dorothea) Knitting Mills.
Her most cherished roles were mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She shares a very special bond with each of her grandchildren and was thrilled when she became a great-grandmother. Along with her husband, she was a devout member of St. George's Macedono-Bulgarian Eastern Orthodox Church.

Evda’s legacy, exemplified by her strength, compassion and concern for others and for her community, will continue to inspire and guide us. As we grapple with the loss of her physical presence, we find solace in knowing she will be happily reunited with her beloved husband Nick, her many predeceased friends and siblings: Sam, Stavro, Domna, and Elena. She will always remain in our hearts, and we will honour her memory by living our lives by the values she instilled in us and the lessons she has taught us. In her final days, she found comfort as she shared with us her immense pride for her family and spoke of how blessed she was to have had a loving and caring family and how enriched her life was through her many longstanding friendships.

A special thanks to the medical Teams at North York General Hospital for the loving care they provided Evda during her past and recent stays at the hospital.

Evda’s family invites friends and relatives to visitation at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre on Sunday February 23, 2025, 2-8pm. There will be a service at 5pm on Sunday February 23, 2025. On Monday February 24, 2005, visitation will begin at 10 am followed by the memorial service at 11 am and burial immediately following the service at Pine Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. George's Macedono-Bulgarian Church, St. Clair O’Connor Community (https://scoc.ca/donations/) or the North York General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
