Evangelos Karachotzitis, a beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on June 14th, 2024. He was born on April 7th, 1939 in Kastraki, Nemea in the picturesque Nemean Valley of Korinthia, Greece. Evangelos was a man of kindness and positivity who touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Evangelos is survived by his loving wife Vasiliki, his children Anastasia and George, daughter-in-law Ruth, his cherished and adored grandchildren Evangelina, Penelope, and Alexander, nieces, nephews and godchildren. His family meant everything to him, he was their rock, providing guidance to them through life's ups and downs.
Evangelos was an avid sports fan, (primarily hockey), enjoyed his vegetable garden (his tomatoes were legendary) and enjoyed listening to Greek music. But most of all it was his family and friends that he enjoyed. While he enjoyed watching and following hockey, he found great joy in following his grandchildren’s hockey games, first by attending when he could, and later by asking for updates, daily. (who was playing? did they score? did they win? did they have fun?) He planted enough vegetables to feed a small village and found great joy in sharing his harvest with his family and friends. He loved family gatherings and enjoyed listening to music more if he had a parea, over a glass of wine. The parties held at his home over the last 50-60 years have been epic.
Evangelos loved traveling back to Greece where he could remember old times and savor familiar sights and sounds of the mountains, the air and the sea, while visiting family and friends.
The loss of this remarkable man has left a void within our hearts. While we mourn deeply with this profound loss today, our memory of him and his positive outlook will continue to inspire us and bring us joy. Evangelos' spirit and memory will live on through his grandchildren, his family and friends.
Please consider planting a vegetable plant, flower or tree in your garden to remember Evangelos. That way his memory and spirit will inspire new life.
In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to the Princess Margaret Hospital or contact the family about making a donation to his parish, the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
