In memory of

Evangelia Theodorlis

November 1, 1933 -  December 29, 2024

The name Evangelia has its origins in the ancient Greek language. Derived from the Greek word euangelion, which means good news or good tidings, Evangelia translates to “Bringer of Good News”

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Evangelia Theodorlis (Lazenka) on December 29, 2024, at the age of 91. She is predeceased by her parents Boris and Tsila, husband Petros, sisters Sophie, Sophie, Mary and brother Steve. Beloved mother of Danny and Paul. Dear sister of Helen, Angelo and Jim.

Evangelia (also affectionately known as Gila) was born in the village of Skopia (on the outskirts of Florina) in Northern Greece. She immigrated to Canada after her father in the early 1950’s at the age of 19. She returned to Greece and met the love of her life Petros. They were married in 1961 and returned to Canada to begin a new life as a couple and shortly afterwards started a family having two sons. They were married for 36 years. Her devoted love and support of her sons were most important to her throughout her life. Besides her immediate family, Evangelia was also very close with her extended family of sisters, brothers, many cousins and good friends. She always enjoyed spending time with them. She instilled the importance of family traditions and strong family values that she passed along to all of us. A fabulous cook and baker, she loved to entertain, making our home the hub of many family parties and celebrations, filled with music, dancing, singing, and laughter.

The family wishes to thank all the staff at the Hellenic Home for the Aged in Scarborough for her care over the past five years. She will be sorely missed by all.

If desired, donations to Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
