In memory of
Evan Suessmuth

May 10, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beautiful Evan on May10th, 2024. Our strong, healthy boy suffered a rare and unthinkable brain aneurysm on May 8th. In spite of a quick medical intervention, he could not be saved. There are no words to truly express the pain we are feeling. It is difficult to comprehend that such a beautiful soul would be taken from us so soon, but Evan will forever be in our hearts.
Evan was charismatic, with such a kind, confident and good-natured disposition. He was incredibly smart, excelled at sports, loved music and would play drums and sing like a rock star. He was a quiet leader among his friends. His wisdom and maturity were well beyond his years. He socialized with such ease, and kids would look to him to show them the way. He was so well liked, and would calmly command respect when playing and was trusted and admired by his peers. He was competitive and loved to win but not in a way that would hurt others, and he never showed a bad temper. Like so many kids today, he was an avid gamer, and loved to play with his brothers, dad and friends. He loved life, and loved his family and friends so much.
We were so blessed to have had him in our lives, and he will live on forever in our memories. He was loved beyond words and will be sadly missed by his parents George and Elaine, his brothers Alex and Nicolas, grandmothers Helen Suessmuth and Ginette Mattioli, his Uncle Andy, and Aunt Helene, his Godparents George and Olena Plouskas, his cousins, Daniel Mattioli, as well as all our extended family, our dear friends - many of whom are like family, the staff at his school and his many young friends. To know him was to love him. His grandfathers Werner (John) Suessmuth and Leone Mattioli, and his cousin Christopher Mattioli predeceased him and are no doubt taking care of our little man now.
Evan’s final act was that of creating miracles through organ donation. Our family’s unimaginable loss was the life saving miracle 6 other families were waiting for. While we cannot comprehend that we lost him, we are so proud of his life saving gift to others.
We would like to thank the incredible Doctors and nursing staff at Sick Kids Critical Care, in particular nurses Jessica and Irene and Doctors Benga and Josh as well as Alexis and Sheila who showed compassion to our family and took such good care of Evan and our family during such an unimaginably difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Hospital for Sick Children in Evan’s honour.
A Memorial / Celebration of Life will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery on June 23rd at 5pm. Visitation will commence at 4pm, and a reception will follow the service.
We appreciate messages of condolences, they are felt wholeheartedly. Please also consider sharing any memories you have and would like to share of our Evan. We want to forever remember the beautiful soul that he was and how he touched people’s lives.
