In memory of

Eve Cook

August 4, 2023

Eve Cook was born in Montreal, Quebec and passed away peacefully at the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry on August 4, 2023.

Eve grew up with her parents, Tina and Peter and three sisters… Jean, Bobbie and Shirley. After graduating high school, Eve worked as a librarian for Trans-Canada Airlines (now known as Air Canada) and became ‘Miss TCA’ in 1949. Eve’s sister Jean (with husband Jimmy), ran a small boarding house and as luck would have it, Bill Cook, a travelling salesman often stayed in Jean and Jimmy’s home… ‘lucky’ because he met and fell in love with Jean’s sister Eve who would often drop by for a visit.

Bill and Eve married in 1952, established their home in Toronto and had two children, William Warren Cook Jr. (Billy) who died tragically at the age of 17 in 1971 and Kim (Chuck) who blessed Eve and Bill with grandchildren, Will (Erin, nee Hodgins) and Carlie (Brian Merkley). Eve and Bill delighted in their four great grandchildren Tristin, Ian, Brooke and Caleb.

Eve will always be remembered for her entertaining skills. Whether it was the Cook/White Bridge night, a bridal or baby shower or just a party, Eve was the ‘hostess with the mostest’.

Eve and Bill travelled extensively touring the world several times over. She loved music, especially The Gaither’s and Andre Rieu which comforted her greatly as her life became a challenge. Eve loved her friends and family and always filled her home with warmth and kindness. Hers was a life well lived and she will be missed.

If desired, donations in Eve’s honour may be made to the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry (www.oakridgeshospice.com). A private family burial will take place followed by a Celebration of her Beautiful Life’ to take place in September (date TBA).

Mrs. Cook was grace personified. Growing up she was like a second mother to me, and Kim, my best friend at Bendale Blvd., was the sister I always wanted. Eve was a natural beauty and I adored her very much. Rest Gently, Eve. You were a good friend to everyone, and you will be missed.
