In memory of

Ēva Kacso

February 11, 1931 -  February 22, 2024

With our heartfelt sadness,
ĒVA KACSO (nee STRAUSS),
has passed away, on February 22, 2024, celebrating a new life, with God.

Ēva was born February 11, 1931, to her Austrian/Hungarian parents,
Father, Aurelne Strauss,
Mother, Maria (Nagy)

Ēva was predeceased by her brothers
Aurelne, Istvan, Riszard John,
her sister Agi Projnov
and predeceased by her sisters,
Margot, Edith, Ilona Kiss.

Ēva shared her life with Jozsef Szaraz.
She was a loving caring mother, with a heart, larger than life.
Her six children are,
Ēva Matkovicsne, Stephan Kovacs
(Ai wi) , Christina Doris Bialy (Ted),
Nicolette Kelly (Brian), Hedy Johnson (Wayne).
Daughter predeceased,
Kovács Zsuzsanna

Ēva has ten grandchildren, and many Great Grandchildren.

Ēva, was born in Budapest, Hungary.
She and her spouse Roland, made a very difficult decision, during the 1956 Hungarian Revolution, ruled by Russian Communism.

Dressed as tourists, Ēva was 4 months pregnant, they both boarded the train to the destination, Sopron, Hungary, on the west border, not too far from the magnificent Alps.
They disembarked the train following their written instructions.

As they were walking in the dark, dogs in the distance were barking, without hesitation, they started to run blindly, in fear of being caught by the Russians.

At last, appeared the cut opening of the barbed, IRON CURTAIN! Relief of Freedom overwhelmed them as they saw in the distance, the lit candle, at the Farm house window, in Austria.

In Vienna, arrangements were made to arrive in Canada. They finally made their destination and proudly, made it their home. It was a joyous, courageous dream come true.

Later in life, Eva worked tiresly, as a sewer, at Chrysler, for fifteen years.

Ēva with Jozsef, enjoyed the many family celebrations and more so, as the families grew larger.

We will all miss her, infectious laugh, clowning around, imitations, and most of all her warm love she shared with everyone.

We like to thank the hospitals in Durham, Doctors, Nurses, PSW, Frontline Workers, who assisted caring for Ēva Kacso.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a charity of your choice.

Obituary composed on behalf of the family by Christina Doris Bialy (nee Kacso).

Dear Steve,

Please accept our deepest sympathy for the death of your mother to you and your family. We only met your mother once, and as far as we can remember she was a very beautiful and a very good person.

So honored to have been a small part of your lives in our very young days. Had no idea of the adventure that brought you all to Canada, what an amazing story! God bless you all in these difficult times, but also knowing that she had an incredible life that brought so much beauty to the world!

I never got to meet your mom Nikki, but if she was anything like you were and she must have been a great lady.

A warm thank you, to everyone who read, the Obituary that I wrote about my dear, loving
Mother Ēva Kacso (nee Strauss) of six children. She shared me her heartbreaking journey, leaving families behind, a sacrifice that was too much to bear, received her FREEDOM, but carried a broken heart, to the end.
I love and miss you my dear Momika.

I know that I am guilty of many things, but I am asking God to forgive me for it. I do not want to be bad, I just want to be free from sins. I am asking God with my vows and with my prayer for the only existence in my life forever. Accept my prayer, because only that I can say with all my heart that you, my God, are the good ones. I am Eva, and I will remain so, because I was given this name.
