In memory of

Esther Barbara Stots (nee Watton)

November 10, 1935 -  August 31, 2025

It is with great sadness for us, but with much peace for her, we share that our beloved Mom, Gramma, and friend, Esther has passed away in her 90th year, while in hospital.

She has reunited with her dear husband, Milford (Mel) who passed in 1998. A very special and gifted family member recently communicated a message from Grandpa, telling Gramma, “It was okay to come home.”

Esther leaves behind her children Gordon, Jean (Terry), Susan, and Margaret (Wayne); her treasured grandchildren Bradley and Gregory, Madilynn Rachel (Joshua) and Braden (Mikaela), Nathan, and Kristen (Ben); and her many great-grand-pets. She will be deeply missed by extended family and friends, and her cherished, lifelong friend, Lenny.

In younger years, Mom was a busy, strong, and independent woman who raised her children and managed the household, while Dad worked shift work. She had great neighbours whom she enjoyed spending time and league bowling with. Before marrying Dad, she worked in various office positions. As her children grew in age, she enjoyed the freedom of returning to work in customer service and switchboard settings.

Mom always said her purpose in life was to “be of service to others.” She truly lived that way; sharing her love, time, and kindness with family, friends, charities, and even strangers.

Her greatest joy in life came from spending time at family gatherings for birthdays, special occasions, holidays, or just to be together. Christmas was her favorite time, when she could spoil all her loved ones. She also loved her vacation place at Bangor Lodge on beautiful Lake Muskoka, a place filled with family, friends, laughter, and precious memories. Though absent now, she will continue to surround us in Spirit.

In later years, when Mom’s health declined, she faced the loss of independence with honesty and courage. Surrounded by those whom she loved, she had the chance to say her goodbyes and leave this world with love and peace in her heart.

With much love, honor, and gratitude, we release our beloved Mom, Gramma, and friend. May she fly gently on the wings of Angels to a place of eternal peace and joy. And, may we seek comfort in the belief that one day, when the time is right, we will be together again.

As per Esther’s wishes, she will be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In her memory, donations may be made to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada or War Amps Canada.

Friends are like diamonds precious and rare
False ones are like pebbles found everywhere.
Esther was a diamond in my life for 80years. We were friends and schoolmates together sharing our hopes and dreams. Her journey has ended and I will cherish those memories and in this circle of life thank God our paths crossed.
May God grant her family strength and peace during this difficult time.
Sincerely Lenny.

What an inspiration. I will cherish the memories I had with Esther through the family celebrations.
Esther loved Lake Muskoka and the lake loved her.
