In memory of

Erna Emilie Lutz

March 6, 1929 -  September 2, 2019

Erna Emilie Lutz (Plangger) was born on March 6th 1929, in Gaissau, Austria. She passed away peacefully in Scarborough, Ontario on September 2nd 2019.

Erna immigrated to Canada with her husband Erwin and her 2 year-old son Alexander in June 1955. In 1957 they welcomed another son, Peter. After over 6 decades in loving partnership, Erna was predeceased by Erwin on December 16, 2018.

She will be forever in the hearts of her sons Alex (Janet) and Peter (Anna), grandchildren Evan (Jocelyn), Simon, James (Erin) and Benita (Ryan), and great-grandchildren Alex, Evelyn, Peyton, Reilly, Wesley, Emilia and Natalie.

Erna’s closest friend, Francis Anetter, was her “sister”, they shared a lifelong friendship that they both treasured.

Erna spent her life’s moments giving, caring, and loving. Family, friends, neighbours, acquaintances, she took you straight to her heart immediately.

Though she certainly could offer comforting words, it was always by her hands that she expressed her connection between hearts. Her homemaking, her unparalleled cooking and baking, her quilting, crocheting and sewing, her gardening, her handicrafts, her backrubs, her dedicated attention to every one of the hundreds of things she did every day, all had as their main purpose to make those in her world feel better, cared for, looked after. It’s a comfort to know that Erna’s works of love can be found in many homes today.

Erna took great joy in each one of us in her ever-growing family. Many of her, and our, happiest times were when we all came together at “Lutzaberg” on Bathtub Bay where she could lavish her love on us all together at once.

The family will always be grateful for the care Erna received from the devoted health care providers and other caregivers that eased her difficulties in her last few years. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly ask that you make a donation in Erna’s memory to a charity of your choice.

Erna was the loveliest lady on the lake! Always a smile and giggle amd always a cookie for my children and then grandchildren when we canoed past. After my parents, Hal and Doreen Siemens, died, I treasured her and Erwin's recollections of them. The Lutz' were so friendly and helpful. And Erna was a terrific cook! They have both left a wonderful legacy on Bathtub Bay. Sincere and deep condolences to her family. It is the end of an era!

I am thankful to have known Erna & Erwin since 1970 at the cottage. We could not have had better cottage neighbours. They were always so kind, selfless & generous to others -- great examples to us all.

With love, Bruce

Oma lived a great life. If one believes the primary purposes of life are to love those in your circle and show those who you love, especially the next generation, how to live, Oma achieved those goals. She was loved by many; will be missed by many but she lives on the personalities of those she nurtured.
