In memory of

Ermioni Lebedev (nee Ratsos).

September 1, 1935 -  September 9, 2021

Passed away peacefully on September 9, 2021, after a period of illness at Reactivation Care Centre/Hospice (formerly Humber River Regional Hospital) in Toronto.

Predeceased by her husband, Alec (d. 2019). Loving mother of sons, Aristotle and Ed, mother-in-law of Sanae, and grandmother to her much loved granddaughter, Hana. Ermioni (Hermione) is also predeceased by her beloved sister Efterpi (Pepi) Sudu. Sister-in-law to Dinu Sudu, and her niece Joanna Courtney (Lee) and nephews, Chris and Mike Sudu (Lorna) and their children. Also beloved cousin to Aphrodite Tsavdaris and her family. She also leaves behind many members of her extended family and dear friends in the Greek, Macedonian, and Romanian communities in Toronto, throughout Canada and the United States, and the many friends of all backgrounds and walks of life she met over the years. She was so happy to have known you all.

Born in the village of Smrdes (later, Krystallopigi), Greece, she and her family were caught-up in the displacements following the Greek Civil War, eventually landing in Romania in the early 1950s. It was there she met her future husband, Alec. The happy couple lived in Bucharest until soon after the time of the birth of their son Aristotle. Ermioni and Alec then joined the many members of her extended family living in the Greek diaspora in Toronto in 1969. Her beloved other son, Edward, was born a few years later. Ermioni enjoyed a long career with Bell Canada, progressively moving up the ranks in her department. She retired in 1994 and thereafter enjoyed many years of carefree living and travel with Alec, prior to the onset of his illness, when she, with great courage, strength, and compassion, became his primary caregiver. Always socially engaged, and a keen conversationalist, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends over the years. She will be forever loved by those that knew her.

The family extends their thanks and gratitude to all of the staff at both Mackenzie Health Centre and the Reactivation Care Centre for the exemplary palliative care Ermioni received.

Graveside service will take place on Thursday September 16, 2021 at 1:45 p.m. at Elgin Mills Cemetery, 1591 Elgin Mills Rd., E, Richmond Hill, Ontario. Due to COVID-19 restrictions for public gathering, please reach out to the family for reservation.
