In memory of

Ermelinda Lawson

August 14, 1927 -  November 16, 2021

Thank you for joining us in this celebration of life for Ermelinda Diaz Lawson, of 94 years. Pre-deceased by her husband Dorin Radacovici Lawson in 1989. She was born in Asuncion, Paraguay in 1927 where she lived with her four sisters; Nieves, Frody, Negra, Cathy, Ermelinda moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina as a teenage girl to attend school and provide home care for a family. After finishing school she went to work for an insurance company in Buenos Aires and then met her husband Dorin. They left Buenos Aires and moved to Montreal, Canada where they had extended family.

After many years in Montreal the family moved to Toronto, Canada in 1978. She lived a blessed life with her children; Milena, Sylvia, Cynthia, Roger, many grandkids; Laith, Ramy, Austin, Marques, Serena, Dorin, Lucas, Marilinda, Ermia, Amelia, and great grandson: Leonidas. Ermelinda enjoyed asado (barbecue) with her friends, family and a bottle of Mateus with club soda. She loved watching hockey, wildlife and “Bo Bucket“ (Bob Barker). Although a simple woman, she dedicated her life to her family.

Ermelinda passed away peacefully at home with her four children by her side. We will all miss her dearly as she leaves us with very fond memories in our hearts.

Thank you for the attentive and compassionate palliative caregivers from Mount Sinai hospital. Please consider a donation to palliative care at Mount Sinai instead of flowers.

Ermelinda Lawson; my Abuelita, was one of the most delightful and entertaining people I've ever known. Our relationship was filled with memories of love and laughter, expressed through the many nights where we would cuddle up and watch Wheel of Fortune and Pittsburg Penguins Hockey Games. Beneath the surface of her docile and adorable appearance, Abuelita was a prankster who always knew how to have fun. I am grateful for the special bond that we had and all the loving smiles and fist-bumps we exchanged. Abuelita, I love you so much, may you rest in peace.

The passing of a loved one is one of the biggest hardships we can face in our lifetime. We are left with many questions like how we should respond, what we should do to ease the pain or how to move on without that person. In these moments of thought I remember some of the unforgettable moments I had with my Abuelita, whether that be watching hockey games, walking her to the front door while humming some melody or eating oranges together after every dinner. She was a ginormous part of my life that I’ll never forget. I love you Abuelita, rest in peace.

My heart broke when I heard the news of your passing. You were an Angel for my family the day we meet you. You are and always will be part of my heart. I love you unconditionally. My condolences to the family.

Queridos Sylvia, Milena, Cynthia y Roger
Sonia
