In memory of

Erika Somogyi

July 10, 1927 -  July 3, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Erika Somogyi (nee Kautzky) at Scarborough General Hospital on July 3rd.
Erika was born in Reichenberg, Czechoslovakia, and came to Canada with her widowed mother in the 1950's.
Erika was a hard worker and spent her happiest days as a bookkeeper with Price Waterhouse Coopers, retiring at the age of 79.
Erika made many friends at PWC which continued for the rest of her life.
She was an ardent animal lover and supported numerous charities towards their well being. She didn't forget her fellow man either and donated generously in this regard.

Erika was one of a kind but her friends were all sorts from many different elements of her life. Her illness brought these many friends together. RIP with your mother and Mitzy.

I had the privilege of working with Erika at Coopers & Lybrand/PwC. She was an incredible lady, adventuresome and fun. As well, she was very thoughtful and took care of all of us, like family. I still remember the cakes and other sweets she baked for us, including long after she retired. Rest in peace, sweet lady.

Erika brightened up everyone's day with her warm smile and personality-she was a pleasure to be around and thought of highly by partners and staff at PwC!

Erika and I only met once in person - at my wedding 17 years ago - and we became friends. I was impressed about her active and confident way to live.
I don’t know how much letters I got from her and how often we called- every conversation full of nice words and wishes.
She was always supportive and really took care about my family, our dog & me.
Since she had to leave her home Robert was the connecting bond to her and I am grateful, that we could stay in touch.
I am sure Erika means a lot to her friends as she does to me and I will keep her in loving memory 💜. Such an impressive woman.
