We are sad to announce the passing of our dear mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, & aunt on Tuesday January 14, 2025 at the age of 92.

Erica Jocelyn Henwood was born in Aldershot, England on December 10, 1932, grew up in Georgetown, British Guiana, and married the love of her life Cecil Gomes in September 1952. Together, they had 5 children, Colleen (Patrick), Derek (Maria), Keith (Tony), Roger (Mary), and Duane, before immigrating to Scarborough, Ontario, Canada in 1970.

Erica worked for many years as a school secretary before retiring at the age of 60 to enjoy the freedom of doing whatever made her happy (socializing, entertaining, trips, her computer, etc). We all have fond memories of many special occasion meals that our mom proudly prepared and served. She was a great cook and we will treasure her recipies and share them with family and friends.

Erica was so proud of & always interested in the lives of her 7 grandchildren, Sean (Lesley), Jennifer (Josh), Christian, Adam (Rachel), Charlotte, Clare, & Thomas, and her great-grandchild Patrick and enjoyed staying in touch with her nieces & nephews.

Possessing a witty sense of humour, she loved to chat and laugh with family and friends. Hers was a life well-lived, filled with the love of her large family and she was still enjoying socializing and attending concerts at True Davidson Acres before her recent illness and hospitalization.

Predeceased by her husband Cecil in 1996, we will never forget her unwavering love & support for our dad during his health challenges. We believe that she is now reunited with him, her sisters Vivienne & Philippa, brother-in-law George, former daughter-in-law Helen, and her dear friend Carlos.

A memorial visitation will be held at Pine Hills Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough. on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. A Funeral Service to follow at 3:00 p.m. Refreshments from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

A private family burial and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. If desired, donations may be made to North York General Hospital.
