In memory of

Eric Wesley Pentz

September 9, 1980 -  September 2, 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Eric, eldest son of Rod and Lynn Pentz, at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, on Friday, September 2, 2022. Dear brother of Timothy (Melinda), “fun” uncle to Grayson, Levi and baby Oliver. Fondly remembered by many uncles, aunts, cousins and a wealth of friends.

Eric was a generous and kind free spirit, with an aptitude for hard work and a great sense of humour. He graduated from Sheridan College in Art Fundamentals in 1999, in Illustration in 2001, and in Computer Animation in 2002. A talented artist, he was Senior Rigger at Jamfilled Entertainment, and previously at Nelvana, Corus, Guru, Snowball, to name a few, as Rigger, Modeller or Computer Animator. His main hobby and love was playing in his band, Stillwaves.

Many thanks to all the ICU doctors and nursing staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and the University Hospital for their wonderful care, and to the Hope Foundation for organ donation. Family and friends will be received at Pine Hills Cemetery & Funeral Centre (625 Birchmount Rd., north of St. Clair Ave. E., Scarborough, 416-267-8229) on Thursday, September 22 from 2-3 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Eric’s name to the Sick Kids Foundation.

Please note that the service will be livestreamed. A link will appear on this page at 2:45 p.m., on September 22.

We can't tell you how surprised and saddened we were to hear of Eric's sudden passing. Although only 41, Eric lived and enjoyed life to the fullest and he will be fondly remembered by his many close friends and family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Rod, Lynn, Tim, Melinda, his three nephews, and the entire family at this very difficult time. Know that support is only a text, email, or phone call away.
