In memory of

Eric John Manship

September 15, 1947 -  December 28, 2022

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Eric Manship at Brampton Civic Hospital on December 28, 2022. Eric was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia. He was an avid Habs fan and a ten year veteran with the Canadian Armed Forces (Air Force). He was also a proud Legion member for many years. Eric was a professional Referee and Linesman with the World Hockey Association from 1973 – 1977. Eric also worked in the Parks & Recreation field with many municipalities throughout Ontario. Port Hope was one of his favourite communities where he made many great friends. He initiated the Port Hope Old Timer Hockey Team which held many fond memories for him. This special team travelled to many locations, Florida and Lake Placid to name a few. He ended his career at the Woodbine Casino & Slots O.L.G. He enjoyed working his last eleven years there before retiring. Eric continued to work part time after retiring, naturally at the Turnberry Golf Course. Golfing was one of his great passions. His other passions included many sports and the elusive search for the winning lottery ticket. Many road trips were spent in this search. Eric leaves behind his loving and much loved wife Huguette and two wonderful sons, Kevin and Keith, and Keith’s fiancé Petrea, his amazing sisters and brothers- in-law. Many thanks to all his great friends, his golf partners and his best buddy, Gerry Deguire, and his little sister Diane. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 1 – 5 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 609, 1133 Queen Street East, Brampton.

I’m fortunate to know Eric as my best friend’s husband. I will certainly think of him whenever I see lemon treats. He loved lemon tarts, lemon squares…. . May you rest in peace.
