In memory of

Emmanuel Tambos

February 3, 1939 -  April 20, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Emmanuel Tambos, known to many as Manoli and loved by all. A devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and loyal friend, Manoli passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, at the age of 86 in Newmarket, Ontario.

Born on February 3, 1939, to Pelagia and Dimitris Tampoulhanas in Mytilini, Greece, Manoli lived a life rooted in strength, humour, and an unwavering devotion to his family. From the island shores of his childhood to his decades in Canada, he carried with him the heart of a true Greek soul—fierce in love, strong in will, and full of life.

Manoli found his greatest joy in the simple things. He loved being outdoors—hunting in the early morning light, fishing on peaceful waters, and trapshooting with the focus and skill he was known for. He had a passion for hockey and remained a faithful Toronto Maple Leafs fan throughout every season, no matter the outcome. And wherever life took him, Manoli could make a friend—at the gun club, in his nursing home, and even in his final days at the hospital, where he touched the hearts of many.

He is now reunited with his beloved wife and soulmate, Menka, with whom he shared one of the greatest loves. The bond they shared was rare, unbreakable, and truly inspiring. Their love lives on in all who were lucky enough to witness it.

Manoli leaves behind a large and loving family: Chris, Theresa, Jim (Sara), Peggy (Spiro), Marie, and Wally, along with his grandchildren: Christopher, Ashley, Emily, Joshua, Emmanuel, Melissa, Stephen, Adam, Chris, Daniel, Cristian, and Symona; great-grandchildren: Demitri and Eleni; and a wide circle of friends who felt more like family. His presence was a comfort, his advice was steady, and his laughter was contagious.

To know Manoli was to feel welcomed, protected, and deeply cared for. He was a pillar of strength and cared deeply for those closest to him. His absence leaves a space that can never be filled—but his spirit will always be felt in the rustling trees, the echo of a shotgun across an open field, and the roar of a Saturday night hockey crowd.

A visitation will be held on April 24, 2025, at the Elgin Mills Funeral Centre at 11:30am, followed by an interment at 2:30pm, and a gathering to honour his life at 4:00pm.

May his memory be eternal.
Αιωνία η μνήμη σου, Μανώλη.

Sincere condolences to your family during this very difficult time.
You were one my father’s best friends.
I remember many times you being in my parents kitchen having coffee with my dad listening to Greek / Macedonian music.
