In memory of

Elsa Lenski

April 9, 1927 -  January 9, 2024

Elsa Lenski, née Noske, was born on April 9, 1927 in the small village of Lietzengrund, West Prussia, Germany (now in present day Poland). She lived there on a small farm in a small house with her parents Eduard & Wanda and 3 sisters. As a teenager, she experienced the horrors of war, which included not being able to finish school, being caught by Russians, fleeing her homeland, not being able to find her family and falling sick. Always making the best of a situation, she first found work and lodging at the hospital, after she had recovered from illness. Later, she had the opportunity to immigrate to Canada where she married her sweetheart Christoph in 1952. They established themselves with good jobs and were able to purchase a cottage in the Haliburton Highlands and a house in Scarborough. They worked hard and meticulously at everything they did.

Elsa is known to her friends and family as genuine, engaging, interested, heartfelt, hardworking, detailed and very organized. She always had her 2 cents worth to share. She enjoyed gardening, hosting, cottaging, water skiing & skidooing, as well as travelling; whether to see family in Germany or to see new parts of the world. Elsa was an active and important part of her church and neighbourhood communities. Elsa’s last years were lonelier through Covid lockdowns at the retirement home. She valued and insisted on her independence down to the last days. On January 9, 2024, Elsa passed away peacefully at home in her sleep in the big city of Toronto. She follows her dear husband Christoph, parents, two sisters and many friends. She leaves behind her sister Erika, along with nieces & nephews, friends and wonderful memories.

"She was a beautiful person!“

Mrs. Lenski was an long time member of St. George's Lutheran Church and congregation. She was very kind and interested in everyone.
It was always special to have a conversation with her. She was always thankful.
She will be missed in our congregation. We are grateful that Jesus Christ opened the door to God's eternal kingdom through his death and his resurrection on Easter Sunday!
Jesus says: I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in in me, even though they die, will live. John 11:25

We will miss hearing Elsa’s stories and joking around. We have live next door to Elsa and chris for the duration of their time on Mollard Road. They loved to visit with our many kitties over the years. Elsa shared many stories with us on her upbringing and war stories and German culture. We visited her often at the. Nursing home bringing her her favourite strudel from montmartre bakery and word search books to keep her busy. We will miss our visits with Elsa but happy she is finally reunited with Chris and her family. TIL we meet again

I have known Elsa since I was born. She always had a good heart. We kept in touch over the years since my parents passed and Christoph. I always remember, it was interesting to listen my parents and Lenski's engage in conversations, (in German) and the parties they all had.
We will miss her.

„Ganz still und leise, ohne ein Wort,
gingst du von deinen Lieben fort,
du hast ein gutes Herz besessen,
nun ruht es still, doch unvergessen;
