In memory of

Ellen Marie Gordon

March 7, 1937 -  May 20, 2022

With broken hearts, our family announces the death of our beloved Mother, Ellen Marie Gordon (née Sanderson) at Extendicare Brampton, on Friday May 20th. She is now reunited with the love her life, our late father, William John Frederick Gordon (1936-2014).

Marie was born March 7th, 1937, in the original Peel Memorial Hospital, the 2nd daughter and 2nd oldest child of the late Earl (Sandy) and Ethel Sanderson, of Isabella Street.

She married our father on Sept 8th, 1956, in the library of the manse of Grace United Church on Alexander Street. Only death separated them after 58 years of marriage.

Mom lived her entire 85 years in Brampton.

She is survived by her daughter Kerry & her husband Juergen Hack, her son Fred & his partner Paul Jarsky, and her son Angus. Marie was the grandmother of Joshua Hack & his wife Kaylyn, and Oliva (née Hack) & her husband Ben Salisbury. She was also the beloved “GG” of 5 great-grandchildren; Grace, Luke and Madelynn Hack, and Emily and Harper Salisbury. She remains forever in the hearts of her remaining siblings, Beatrice, Linda, Earl, Elaine, Valarie and Denise. She is predeceased by her brothers Tom, Bill, Dave and Robert (Bob). She was also a much-loved sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, godmother, cousin and friend to an uncountable number of people in both the Sanderson and Gordon families.

Mom was an exceptional seamstress, and loved quilting, as well as restoring furniture, vintage cars, century homes, dancing, photography, and animals. She volunteered at Glendale Public School to teach newly arrived children how to read English.

She was our confidant, and a source of strength when we needed her the most. She will be forever remembered for her fighting spirit and a quick wit, with a love of a good laugh.

While having a sense of humour like no other, and sometimes a mouth that would make even a Sailor Blush, beneath all of that lay a woman who was kind, who are caring, and who loved like no other.
I hope she finds peace with my Uncle.
Rest in Peace, Marie.
Lost, but never gone. Never forgotten.
