In memory of

Ellen Kotsopoulos

July 15, 1940 -  April 21, 2021

It is with profound sadness that we announce Elli’s passing on April 21, 2021. Elli suffered from Leukemia for decades, however, passed away from COVID. Elli was born on July 15, 1940 in Parori, Florina, Greece. Elli was the cherished wife of George for nearly 63 years. Adored mother of Mary, Diana (John) and Daniel (Miriam). Beloved Grandmother of Dace (Meagan), Lindsay (Kevin), Christian, Joshua and Julia. Sister-in-Law of Anthoula and dear Aunt of Kostas (Maria) and Vicky. Great-Aunt of Tasos and Amalia (all from Greece). Reunited in heaven with her devoted parents Konstantinos and Fani Tsalakopoulos, and her loving brother Anastasios. Elli will be missed by the many “Special K” family members as well as the many other family and friends she had world-wide. She greatly touched all who had the pleasure to know her.

In lieu of flowers, donations to your choice of the following would be greatly appreciated:

The Terry Fox Foundation - https://terryfox.org

The Super Sophia Project - https://www.thesupersophiaproject.ca

or a charity of your choice.

We would also like to acknowledge the staff at The Scarborough Health Network Centenary Hospital for their extraordinary care and compassion for Elli as well as the great work of the paramedics during these difficult times.

Given the pandemic is still with us, it is unfortunate we cannot accommodate Elli’s many friends and family. We hope to have a proper celebration of life when the opportunity permits.

The family would also appreciate your sharing of any memories and photos you have of Elli. Click on the “Sign Guest Book” tab to add comments or to add a photo.

I will always cherish the happy, upbeat greetings she always did. No matter when I visited Mary she always came out to greet me with the most beautiful smile and kindest words.

We feel blessed that we have had such a loving relationship with Elli and her family. This began from the moment we arrived in Toronto, in 1959. Elli greeted us at the door with a warm smile and numerous hugs. She truly was able to make us feel welcome. As a child of eight, coming to a place filled with strangers, these acts reassured me that all will be fine...and it was!
