Elizabeth Srancz

January 22, 1936 -  June 20, 2021

On Sunday, June 20, 2021, Elizabeth passed away at the age of 85. She is survived by her daughter Liz, son-in-law Ken, granddaughter Natalie, her sister Helen and brothers Joe and Gabor.

Elizabeth was an independent, proud, and hard-working lady. She was born in Budapest, Hungary, the eldest daughter of Jozsef and Elsa. In 1957, at the age of 21, she left Hungary with her first husband coming to Canada to escape communism for a better life. Initially, she settled and worked in the Crystal Beach area but moved to Toronto when her marriage failed. She met her husband Martin of 58 years at a church dance, they were married in 1962 and had one child together.

Elizabeth, better known as ‘Betty’ at work was a dedicated employee, working at Mount Sinai Hospital for 28 years. She went to night school to improve her English and continued her education receiving a diploma in Nutrition Management advancing her career to become a Food Service Supervisor. She was happiest doing crafts, spending endless hours embroidering, doing crochet, needlepoint, and knitting. She also enjoyed sharing her stories with friends and family and excursions with Martin to the Casino. She will be missed by her family and friends.

A short graveside ceremony will be held at Pine Hills Cemetery at 2pm on June 30, 2021. Please arrive at the 1:45
