In memory of

Elizabeth Kirk

October 8, 1931 -  November 8, 2024

Elizabeth’s kindness left a lasting impression on anyone who was fortunate enough to have known her. She had a special way of making you feel loved, appreciated, cherished and accepted. Born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland in 1931, she carried the pride of her roots with her when she made Toronto her forever home in 1966. You would often find her enjoying a cup of tea with something sweet, diving into a good mystery novel or tending to her beloved garden. Her positive and optimistic attitude could bring joy to anyone’s day. A devout Catholic, Elizabeth’s faith was central to her life and guided her through every challenge that came her way. she dedicated many years of hard work at dominion stores, was a medalist in ballroom dancing and a person that you could always count on. Her radiating warmth will be missed dearly by her family and friends, who have been so lucky to have crossed paths with her in this lifetime. She will be remembered always, and her light will never fade. We love you Aunt Bett.

I’ll miss you for always and love you forever Aunt Bett.

I can’t thank you enough for gifting me with a lifetime of memories. I’ll never forget the day I moved into my first apartment, I was 19 years old.. you can down on the bus, pulling this shopping cart full of stuff, I don’t know how you managed it.. you had everything in there, sheets, tea towels, tea cups, teabags, coffee, jam, curtains, bath towels.. you name it, you had it. You had paper towel and windex to wash the inside of the windows, a book of “handy dandy” tips lol, you most certainly bought it off the shopping channel. We cleaned that place “from top to bottom”, eventually sitting back to admire your work you said “there, now that’s a load off your back”…you so loved a clean home..

Our lives went on from there, and everywhere I was, you were. We laughed til we cried at the “dancing with the oldies”, Richard Simmons tapes, sported the “Tony Little” sandals.. you hated your feet and thought these would fix them lol Let’s not forget that “ELizabeth Grant” cream you’d buy on repeat.. you said it was to make you prettier, you were always pretty!

We shared weekly Wednesday night dinners together before we went to the bingo with Rose, walks and talks at Holy Spirit, movies and theatre performances like “Oliver Twist, Mama Mia, We will Rock you, Marilyn, The Nutcracker, River dance, just to name a few. We attended weight watchers together.. preparing for that summer vacation we took each year at Sauble Beach. Our endless conversations while watching the “girl” dance or gymnastics with “the babies” meant the world to me. I especially loved our lunch dates at the Scarborough Town Centre, you’d get the fish and chips and I’d get the noodles. The Mandarin dinners .. all those Manadrin dinners, you know only went there cause it was your favourite lol .. I could go on and on… my memory is long.

You Aunt Bett, were one of a kind. You were my best friend, my confident, my constant. Your endless support and love was given freely and without hesitation. I’ll miss our “US” time..

I will look for you in the flowers that grow in the garden, the butterflies and the birds that pass by (cardinals) .. I hope I’ve done you proud.

I will remember Aunt Bett as a woman who had smiles to brighten your days, who always made you feel good with her warm words. Her laugh oh so contagious and her wit and humour oh so quick.
Earth has lost a special person but Heaven has gained a very special soul.
You will remain loved and very much missed.
Rest in peace in God's loving arms.
