In memory of

Elizabeth Ann Stiel

November 13, 1942 -  July 4, 2022

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Stiel, peacefully in her sleep after a sustained illness and brief hospital stay.

Elizabeth, known as Betty in her earlier years, was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick along with her twin brother Bill. They were the second youngest of 6 children of Edgar and Stella McLean.

She moved to Toronto where she married, twice, had children and settled in Scarborough. She enjoyed a long career at The Hudsons Bay Company, until she retired and spent her later years enjoying her gardens, her love of cooking and doting on her grandchildren. She passed peacefully in her sleep at the age of 79 in hospital, joining her husband Karl who predeceased her in 2019.

Predeceased by siblings Harry, Gladys and Howard, she is survived by brothers Bill and Byron, and her sons Chris McLeod (Jennifer) and Paul Stiel (Veronica), as well as stepsons Karl Stiel II (Sandi) and Peter Stiel (Sandy) and known as Oma to her many grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Scarborough Centenary Hospital for their compassionate care and flexibility in allowing family to visit.

There will be no formal funeral, a simple cremation has taken place. A Memorial Gathering for friends and family will be held on Saturday August 6th.
