Just after her 93rd birthday, Maisie passed peacefully from this world. She can now join her late husband Bob. She leaves behind her two sons, Robert (Cecilia) and John (Paige) and three grandchildren: McKinley, Robbie and Isla.
Maisie was born in Hull, Yorkshire and persevered through World War II bombing raids and relocation to the countryside. She joined her sister, Joyce, in coming to Canada, briefly living in Montreal but settling in Toronto. There they attended dance clubs designed for English ex-patriots and there she met her future husband. Although they met and married later in life, Bob and Maisie still enjoyed forty-six years together. During that time, almost every weekend was spent at the “country place” in Mulmer Township near Shelburne. Together they tilled the earth, restored antique pine furniture and enjoyed the bucolic peacefulness in the valley off the Prince of Wales Road. Even later in life after giving up her driver’s license, Maisie would speak of her recent trips to the place. Her memories seemed to be drawn there and certainly her spirit will visit the property and join Bob to care for the flowers, tend to the vegetable garden and sit on the front porch with a cold beer to watch the wind ripple gently across John Goldie’s pond. Cheers to a life full of laughter, travel, bridge games and caring for things that grow.

John and Rob,

I saw your mom's obituary today and immediately thought of you and your family loss.

I just wanted to reach out in these trying times to wish you and your family my most sincerest respects.

Knock wood I have not had to deal with an immediate family member loss but can appreciate the hardship of losing an influential and guiding person like a mother. Reading your mom's obituary resonated with me as she was surrounded by family and as my parents creak along and face new medical issues daily I do savour the time to reach out more often than I may have in the past just to hear their voices. I have fond memories of your mom - mostly the chuckle accompanied by an "Oh John" as she tried to make sense of the crazy things we were doing.

Wishing you, and your families all the strength through these difficult days and remember to relive the fond memories I am sure you, and your kids were able to share with her. She is not more than a quiet moment away where you can be alone with your thoughts.

Hello Rob and John,
I was very sorry to learn of your mom's passing. I have wonderful memories of her together with your Dad at 191 FHR. She was always quick to smile and express her interest in what my brother Rob and I were up to.
She was a very gracious lady and I will remember her with fondness.
