Elena Leonidovna Raberova, 64, of Concord, Ontario, died comfortably on August 9, 2025, in the company of her son. The family extends their gratitude to the Palliative Care Unit at Mackenzie Health, Richmond Hill.
Elena was born on February 17, 1961 to Leonid and Dora Raberov in Gomel, Belarus. She attended Railroad Engineers Institute in Gomel where she received her degree in mechanical engineering.
She married her husband Vladimir on January 27, 1990, and they had one son, Leonid. The three of them moved to Canada in 1995, and have lived happily here ever since. She worked as a mechanical engineer until her retirement.
Elena was an avid reader, particularly enjoying mystery novels. She also enjoyed watching cooking shows and experimenting with new and different recipes, especially for Sunday dinners. She loved to spend summers at the cottage with her family, vacation with her international friends, go out for lunch and shopping dates with her local friends, and walk with her furry granddaughter, Jelly Bean. She survived many illnesses over the years, including but not limited to kidney disease, breast cancer, West Nile virus, and COVID-19. Her family and friends regard her as the strongest person they’ve ever known.
Elena is survived by her husband Vladimir, her son Leonid (Amy), her sister Lora (Boris), nephews Igor (Stella) and Alexander (Gallia), grandnephew Berry, and grandniece Daniella. She was preceded in death by her mother Dora and father Leonid.
Visitation will be Friday, August 15th at 10 AM at York Cemetery and Funeral Centre, in Shepard Hall. The funeral service will begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow at York Cemetery.
