In memory of

王蒯文炎夫人 Elaine Man-Yuen Wong

December 20, 1943 -  June 22, 2021

Elaine Wong passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2021 at the age of 77. Elaine was the first-born of her parents, Henry and Doreen Kuai. She is survived by her husband Raymond Wong, her sons Jason (Caroline) and Justin (Jiwon), and four grandchildren Maximilian, Madeline, Lucas and George. She is also survived by her siblings, Elia, Eve, Eleen and Eddy.

Elaine was born in Shanghai, China and at a young age relocated to Hong Kong. There, she met her husband Raymond while attending Pui Ching Middle School. She graduated from Hong Kong Baptist College and pursued further studies overseas with a Masters of Education at South Dakota State University. In 1970 she had her wedding in the First United Presbyterian Church, Brookings, South Dakota.

Elaine was a workaholic who loved her career at Manulife. She started in 1975 and over the course of 40+ years, worked her way up into various executive management positions in offices spanning from Toronto, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Taiwan and Cambodia.

Elaine was very dedicated to her family, and her selfless nature led to her conservative frugal ways for herself (she liked plain and simple), but always generous towards her family. She loved to look after and spoil her grandchildren. Her favourite hobby was playing Mah-Jong.

I had the great pleasure of knowing Elaine for close to 30 years. She was a dear friend, colleague, and someone I admired enormously. There wasn’t a room Elaine walked out of where she didn’t touch everyone with her energy, warmth, and knowledge.

Elaine was loved by everyone who knew her. I will miss Elaine dearly and will love her always.

We are so sorry for the loss of Elaine. She is a dear friend to us. She is gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.

With heartfelt sympathy,
Amy & Joe

It’s really sad to hear that news as we are now not just geographically apart, but actually live apart…..
Continue your generous friendship in another world, in Heaven.
RIP

Gone too quickly.
Gone without another reunion or dinner to remember you by.
Gone without ever working again together.
Gone without saying good bye

My life has become poorer by your passing.
Without your friendship, life is now a little lonelier.
It is less interesting, missing some of its fun and humour and it feels less kind. / Life has lost a true gem.
My soul is quieter and, feeling empty, it hurts.
My memory rejoices though, full of her life which still keeps giving.

Farewell Elaine! My soul and my heart are united in sadness.
You were so unexpected a blessing in my life.
You engaged and amazed me!
You will be missed.
