Jairam, Elaine
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Elaine, on
October 10th, 2023, with her children and grandchildren by her side.
She will be lovingly missed by her husband Shewbaran, children Ian (Shoko), Dyan
(Charmaine) and Shelly (Steve), granddaughters Sasha and Mia, siblings Doreen
(David), Ron (Joan), Winston (Devika), Roy (Shafferoon), and Rudy (Maureen), as well
as her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Elaine was
predeceased in death by her parents Rose and Mannie Dipchan and brothers Wilfred,
Robert and Lawrence.
Elaine was born on October 24, 1948 in Hague Village, West Coast Demerara, Guyana.
She immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in December 1974, where she spent much of
her life raising her beautiful family. After retirement, Elaine moved to Mississauga,
Ontario to be closer to her family and to be a first time grandma. Her most special
moments were spent with her children and grandchildren, whom she loved
affectionately. Elaine had a passion for gardening and was a talented seamstress. She
enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, cooking extravagant meals for her family, from her
delicious curry chicken to her spicy pepper pot. Elaine always made sure that
everyone was well fed, even the granddogs Brooklyn, Coal and Zoey. Her most
precious times were spent with her granddaughters Sasha and Mia, whom she adored
more than anything. Elaine cared deeply for all those in her life and touched the lives of
so many. Those who knew her, were always surrounded by her endless warmth and
unconditional love. She will always be with us in our hearts, reminding us to care for one
another the way that she selflessly cared for those in her life.
To honour her wishes, a small funeral service will be held at Meadowvale Funeral
Centre on Monday, October 16th, where she will be laid to rest. Visitation will take place
at 1pm, with a service to follow at 2pm.
