In memory of

Effie Estena Keene Ebanks

August 13, 1937 -  September 20, 2024

Effie Estena Keene-Ebanks was born in Westmoreland, Jamaica, on August 13, 1937. She migrated to Canada in 1960. Her son, Derrick, was born in 1961. She worked at Levi Straus for twenty-five years. After taking early retirement she embarked on two exciting careers – usher at the Rogers Stadium and an extra in movies filmed in the Greater Toronto Area.

She was a faithful member at Sanctus Church in Ajax for over thirty years. She was a proud mother to her son Derrick and welcomed his wife, Nicola, as a daughter. She was a loving grandmother to her four grandchildren, Rachel, Erin, Arielle and Jordan, all of whom she was very proud.

She fought a good fight against cancer but died on September 20th. She has passed on to her glory and is now in the presence of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Well done good and faithful servant.
We will miss you and the sound of your laughter at family gatherings.
We know you are resting in peace and power.
Your memory will be a blessing and comfort to all who knew and loved you.

Dear Effie will be missed by me and many of our mutual church friends.
We drove together to birthday breakfasts at Perkins and senior events at Sanctus for a number of years. We were in the same small group together for several years and attend a weekly Bible study with Viny and Joanie along with others for many years as well.

We always appreciated Effie’s wise and honest opinions when we had discussions in our Connect Group. She was always willing to participate when she could. Her Faith
was very important to her and that was evident to us all. We will miss her too at our Birthday Brunch celebrations for our group, which she always enjoyed.

Auntie Effie, I remember my visit to Canada with my mother Hyacinth Hayden and my Auntie Dwennette, we had a great time with Miss Richie and yourself.

Sleep well, my Auntie. Love and miss you, always.
