In memory of

Edward Gilford George

September 6, 1942 -  May 6, 2025

With a sense of loss, we announce the passing of Edward George on May 6th, 2025.

He was a Husband, Father, Grandfather, and a loyal relative. He was a fierce friend to many in various parts of the world.

He was born in Guyana, on the Corentyne, and grew up there and in New Amsterdam. His first long-term career was as a Sailor at the Transport & Harbours Department, Guyana, where he made lifelong friends. After that, he became a Seaman on the high seas and sailed in the Caribbean, North and South America, and Europe. Next, he moved to North America and was based in New York City, then to Toronto, where he lived for more than half his life.

The main occupation of his Toronto chapter was as a Barber. As a very sociable person, he enjoyed cooking, social events, and playing dominoes with his friends.

Edward is survived by his sons- Bevis, Rory and Sean- and his siblings Eugenie, Charlotte, Gloria, Amelia, and Aaron. His grandchildren are Edward, Ghani, Bevis, Daniel Ⅱ, Queenie, Daniel Ⅰ, Ayanna, Ginger, Jewel, Spice, Cable, Rory, Olivia, Rashada, Shakisha, Shania, Elijah, Thomasa, Tracey, Tiffany, Shandelle and Shaunette. His daughters-in-law are Sherry-Ann and Faye.

A Celebration of Life Reception for Edward will occur on May 16th at 5:00 pm at the Agincourt Recreation Centre, 31 Glen Watford Drive, Toronto. The event is on the second floor.
