In memory of

Edward Austin "Ed" Bennett

October 1, 1943 -  March 19, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Bennett on March 19th, 2025 at the age of 81. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after battling briefly in hospital. Cherished husband of Doreen (Middleton) for over 30 years. Loving Father of Donald (Lisa) and Katie (Alex). Bonus Dad to Heather (Morley) and Doug (Younghee). Devoted Grandpa of Austin, Evan (predeceased), Tyler, Maddie & Rowan. Great Grandfather of Ludovica and Levi. Dearest brother of Barbara (Glenn, predeceased) and Margaret (predeceased).
Edward was born October 1,1943 in Windsor, Ontario to Alton & Dorothy Bennett. He grew up on a farm in Dorchester. He later went on to live in Montreal, Toronto and settled with his wife Doreen in the GTA.
Ed showed strength, perseverance and determination regarding his health and life in general. He was a hard worker and a dedicated family man. He would greet us in person or over the phone with a, "Well hello there." or "Oh hey guys". These phrases will forever warm our hearts. He was a kind, gentle and soft spoken Father and Grandfather who was there to listen and offer advice. He cared very much to be in the presence of family telling stories, listening to others, joking around and ending his visits with tight loving hugs. He enjoyed his quiet time doing crosswords while sipping his coffee or being outside with his wife Doreen, gardening or going for walks. He also had a passion for cooking and trying new recipes. All the recipes that had high star family ratings, he gifted to his loved ones in his self created recipe books. He loved travelling with Doreen by car or train, taking in the different sights, tastes and experiences Canada had to offer. Ed also had a love for animals, and they knew it. Whether cats or dogs, animals gravitated to him. They were excited to greet him each time he would come over. They were happy and relaxed in his presence, as was he. He was a person who appreciated all that he had and didn't take things for granted. He will be missed by all who knew him.
There will be no funeral visitations. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada ( https://kidney.ca ), the Canadian Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.ca) or any charity in his memory.
