In Loving Memory

Edith Pauline Chantelope Smith, aka. Shandy, was born in Comma Pen, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, on November 17, 1941, to Sylvia Sinclair and David Chantelope.

Edith was predeceased by her parents, her siblings, Lee and Ditty and her daughter Martha. She is survived by her sister, Ling, her children, Beverly, Paulette and O'Neil, her 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

During her formative years, she attended New Forest All-Age School where she was gifted towards the arts. She enjoyed music, playing her guitar, dancing and socializing with her friends.

Edith moved to Canada in 1972 and made a home for her family. She truly lived life to the fullest and had an uncanny ability to make people laugh.

Edith worked in the manufacturing business, at Canada Thermos and Array Marketing. At the same time, she would also be helping out in the homecare field, taking care of elderly people. She worked until age 72 and only stopped working due to an unfortunate car accident that had her unable to walk for some time. She gradually recovered from this accident and was able to attend church services at Meadowvale East Apostolic Church.

In 2018, Edith was diagnosed with vascular dementia. Edith passed away, peacefully at home with her family by her side, on March 12, 2021 at age 79.

Her love, her patience, her understanding, her wisdom and her amazing sense of humor will live always be remembered. She’s given us gifts that are more precious than anything in this world. She’ll always live on in our hearts.
