Edgar Kennedy

May 25, 1959 -  October 3, 2020

Kennedy, Edgar John, On Saturday October 3rd 2020, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. Ed, died at the age of 61, born on May 25th 1959. He will be forever missed by his wife of 41 years Dina, his children Brian (Lorna), Michael (Robyn), and Leanne (Justin), his grandkids Kevin. Jasmin, Liam, Kyan, Kylee, Kinsley, Sienna, Sarah, Mackenzie, his sister Jackie and his brothers David and Steven. He cherished his family life. He will also be deeply missed by all his friends and especially his Harcourt Park family. He truly enjoyed the outdoors and entertaining at his cottage in Harcourt Park.

Ed, proudly started his career on September 15th 1981, as a firefighter. Ed followed in the footsteps of his father David Kennedy and also his grandfather and great grandfather. He served for 39 years. His leadership qualities lead him to be involved in the Union becoming a Executive Officer in 1988, Vice President in 1985 for Scarborough Professional Firefighters, he became Vice President of Toronto Professional firefighters in 2002 and became President in 2010 for 4 and a half years. His leadership skills and strong determination helped build Local 3888 when they amalgamated. This year Ed was awarded the 2020 IAFF Local Leadership Award, for outstanding service.

Ed left us at a young age but in that time he lived more then a lifetime. He will truly be missed by many.

My thoughts and prayers are with Dina and the family on Ed’s passing. I am was saddened to hear of Ed’s passing as I know he battled with cancer the last few years. He will be missed by his friends and the TPFFA membership.

Condolences to the Kennedy family on the passing of Ed. I knew Ed from his involvement with the Fire Fighters Association. He was a dedicated advocate on behalf of firefighters in Toronto and Ontario. He will be sadly missed by his brother and sister firefighters and will be remembered and respected for his tireless efforts on their behalf.
