In memory of

Edgar Kam-Ling Lo

August 21, 1949 -  March 19, 2022

The Lo family is saddened to announce the loss of Edgar Kam-Ling Lo who passed away peacefully on March 19, 2022 at the age of 72. Beloved husband to Anita Tak-Ching, proud father to Karmen Conrad (Andrew) and Calvin Lo (Satoko), and adored grandfather to Boston, Charlotte, and Reylen.

Edgar was born and raised in Hong Kong but ventured west in the 1960s for higher education in hopes of a future ripe with opportunities. He arrived first in the UK where he started vocational studies and discovered his love of science, ultimately arriving in Canada where he completed a Bachelor of Science at McMaster University in 1973 and Master of Science at York University in 1976 with a focus on microbiology. With the rise of the information technology age, Edgar shifted careers in the early 1980s into computers, dedicating most of his career to Bank of Montreal where he spent over 25 years and was a proud retiree.

While Edgar was an incredibly hard worker, his lifelong dedication was to his family. Whether it was supporting his family in Hong Kong or taking care of Anita, Karmen and Calvin, he will be fondly remembered for always putting his family first. Together with Anita, he meticulously improved and maintained the family home in Scarborough for almost 40 years, enjoying gardening, growing vegetables, and trying his hand at handywork like building a deck and a DIY basement renovation.
Edgar was privileged to have Anita who would help him discover and explore many parts of the world as her lucky travel companion. Over the years, together and with many friends they met along the way, he was able to explore many destinations including Chicago and San Francisco, China, and Europe and most especially loved cruising the seas.

A Visitation in Edgar’s memory will be held on Friday, April 1st at York Funeral Centre, located at 160 Beecroft Road in North York between 9-10am. A Funeral Service will follow at 10am.

In lieu of floral tributes, the Lo family kindly asks that you consider donating to Sunnybrook Foundation – Hurvitz Brain Sciences Program in Edgar’s memory.

The Lo family greatly appreciates your ongoing support during this difficult time.

Dear Edgar, 安息!
