In memory of

Ecaterini (Rina) Gjocaj

April 5, 1927 -  May 12, 2024

Ecaterini (Rina) Gjocaj passed away peacefully on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2024 with her son Resule (Sule) by her side.

Her passing on Mother's Day is quite symbolic as she genuinely loved people and treated everyone as her own child.

Rina immigrated from Sparta Greece when she was 29 to marry Cercis Gjocaj in a prearranged marriage. Together they built a life, a home, raised a family and always provided a temporary home for others who had immigrated to Canada.

Rina worked hard all her life to provide for her family. Working her way up from from sweeping floors in a factory, to becoming the ‘Fore Lady’ and designer for Princess Lingerie where she worked for 35 years.

After retirement she found great pleasure working in her garden, knitting slippers to give to nursing homes, caring for her grandchildren and cutting onions for her son’s ‘hotdog cart’ business.

She is survived by her son Resule (Sule), daughter Jule , grandchildren Rebecca, Alex; nephew John Stefanidis, niece Yota Stefanidis and grand nieces & nephews ( Kerri, Stefan,Elleni, Venetia & Korina ).

Knew her and the socks she knitted which I got for my kids for winters. Saw her at the Greek church on Bond. Met her so many times. Beautiful and kind elegant and nurturing. Such a lovely person.

May God grant her Eternal Rest.

I know you will miss her Jule. She is with the angels in heaven.
