In memory of

John Vincent Dutkoski

April 28, 1952 -  June 29, 2025

John was born in Truro, Nova Scotia on April 28, 1952. On Sunday, June 29, 2025, in the early evening, he went Home with God. His loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Dorothy, and their children, Sara and Brian were with him.

John lived a life of service. At 18, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces (Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry). After 6 years, he joined the Metropolitan Toronto Police, where he served for 30 years, mostly in 14 Division, before retiring.

He then went on to utilize his skills as a fine carpenter, and overall handyman. If John couldn’t fix it, there was a good chance that it was not repairable. Signs of his exceptional talent grace many of the homes of his friends and family.

John was an avid gardener and loved spending time outside planting and nurturing his yards
into a serene landscape.

His attention to detail, whether working with people, wood, tools or plants, was immeasurable. He also loved to camp and fish.

As well as being a perfect husband, best friend and soulmate to Dorothy, and an exceptional father to Sara and Brian, he was a great father-in-law to Mike Marcan, and a proud, devoted Papa to Jaxon and Lucas.

He was an amazing Son (pre-deceased by Vincent and Margaret Dutkoski and Mother-in-Law, Millie Hull), Brother (Lorraine Rumberg, Mark Dutkoski), Brother-in-law (Frank and Joan Hull, George and Laurie Hull, Ken Rumberg), Uncle (Michael, Jeannette,
Barry, Shawna, Geordie, Matt and their families), Nephew, Cousin, neighbour and Friend.

John was kind, caring, and generous. He will be missed by all who knew him.
His love for family and friends, love of life, laughter and simple things will live on in our hearts and memories.

“Goodnight Mr D., I will see you again.” Love Mrs D.

A private family service has been held.

A Celebration of Life honouring John, will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion, Highland Creek Branch, 305 Morrish Road, on Sunday, August 24, 2025 from 1 to 4 pm.
