In memory of

Judy Dudas

December 15, 1959 -  October 11, 2019

Judy Carmen Dudas passed away on the morning of October 11, 2019, peacefully in her sleep, due to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario. Judy was 59 years old. She is survived by her mother, Helen Zimmerman, her son Jeff Ballantyne (by her first husband, Jim Ballantyne), and her husband of 15 years Tom Vaivada.

Judy was born in Taber Alberta in 1959. Her parents moved to Cambridge Ontario in the early 1960s. Judy attended Tait Street Public School, Lincoln Avenue School, and graduated from Glenview Park Secondary School in 1979. Judy attended Waterloo University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Geography in 1984.

After graduation Judy eventually settled in Mississauga, Ontario. Judy married Jim Ballantyne and had a son by him, Jeff, in 1990.

Judy’s career spanned a number of companies as a technical support specialist: 1 year with Avis, 4 years with Barclays Bank, 13 years at ACI Worldwide, 3 years with Threshold Financial Services, 3 years at Home Trust, and was employed at Bluepay prior to the onset of CJD.

Judy loved to travel and her wanderlust had her visit at least 24 countries on 4 continents, often with either family or friends along to share the adventure.

Thank you to the staff at the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga for their care and special thanks to the doctors, support staff, and in particular the nurses in Unit 2B and Palliative Care that treated her with such gentleness.

Judy has requested cremation and there will be no viewing or funeral. A reception and celebration of her life will be held on October 27 at 2 PM at the Meadowvale Funeral Centre. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to support the Credit Valley Hospital at Trillium Health Partners (online at www.trilliumgiving.ca/inmemory or by phone at 905-848-7575) on Judy’s behalf.

I met Judy 3 years ago on a tennis court. Beautiful lady inside and out. She was way better than what she thought always contradicting her true potential. I loved working with her as she was a hard worker and always wanted to get better. Lovely lady true self and new I could I always be honest with her. I remember her love for peanut butter, smile, and truly genuine. She will be greatly lost, but loved as the amazing person she was and the genuine sole I hope I can be. God rest your soul and the suffering is done. I hope your beautiful spirit helps others to be the amazing person you were!
