Dr. Vera Solowska Duane

September 18, 1924 -  November 6, 2018

On Tuesday, November 6, 2018, Dr. Vera Solowska Duane, surrounded by her family, passed away peacefully in her 95th year. She was born in Tarnapol, Poland in 1924, and immigrated to Canada in 1935, settling in Toronto. First female chief resident at Sick Children’s hospital. Devoted wife to Andrew A. Duane for 60 years. Loving mother to Helen (Marc Carere), Tom (Anne) and Peg (Tom Best). Loving aunt to Karen Kulyk (Michael Goodyear) , Janice (Michael Keefer), and Robert Kulyk. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Matthew, Emily, Andrew, Dominique, Luke, Jeff, Richard, Melanie, Amy, Colin, Jenna and her great-grandchildren Anna Bella, Sophia, Cosmo, Jessica, Kiana, Avaya and Michael. Special thanks to Dr. Chris Keefer and Dr. Sheldon Katz for their outstanding care and support, and to the wonderful staff at Weston Gardens. She will be remembered as giving all of herself but asking for nothing in return.
On Nov 16, visitation is at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Rd. (East Gate entrance) from 10-11am, followed by a memorial service in the Chapel at 11 am. For additional information and online condolences please visit www.etouch.ca.
