It doesn’t seem real to me that he is gone this sweet, gentle man who was full of life. Thomas was a sensitive, caring soul who worked extremely hard all his life. I am a much better person for having known him and I’m gutted that he has passed away. Not only was he my co-worker but he was also someone I considered a good friend. May you rest in peace Thomas and as you always say…”Hang in there!!!”

I worked for several years with Thomas on the Ontario Sun Safety Working Group. Thomas was co-chair on this group, and was very knowledgeable and passionate on the topic of UVR protection and preventing skin cancer. He made a significant contribution to furthering this work in Ontario and across Canada.
Thomas was a wonderful, caring, kind and supportive man. He often shared amusing stories about Abigail and Hudson during meetings. It was clear he was a devoted and loving father.
Kathryn, I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you during this very hard and sad time.
Please take care - Susan

I had the pleasure of working with Thomas as a member of the WSIB's Scientific Advisory Table on Occupational Disease. I know our occupational disease policy team at the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board were all shocked and saddened to hear of his unexpected passing. We are also grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him and get to know him a little in the last two years. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Tenkate. As a student, I was fortunate to experience his incredible passion for teaching and his dedication to his students' success. Dr. Tenkate was more than just an educator; he was a mentor and a source of inspiration. His wisdom, kindness, and genuine care for others left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and the knowledge he imparted. Rest in peace, Dr. Tenkate. You will be greatly missed.

With heartfelt condolences,
