In memory of

Douglas Lee

June 15, 1949 -  October 6, 2016

Lee, Douglas (June 13, 1949- October 6, 2016) Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed suddenly on October 6, 2016. He will be greatly missed by wife, Irene (Hai Yee), children Karen (Terry), Sharon (Jonathan), Alan and his three grandchildren Isabella, Tessanna and Anastasia. Born in Dong Guan, China, Doug was the eldest of three brothers. At the age of 11 and a refugee, he successfully reunited with his father in Hong Kong. Shortly after the death of his Father, he was fortunate to meet his foster parents, Alexander “Red” and Jean Sherwood at the local YMCA. "Red" and Jean enrolled Doug at Pui Ching Christian School where he met Irene Wong. After "Red" and Jean supported his sponsorship to Canada, he returned to Hong Kong to marry Irene. They both immigrated to Canada in 1975 and had three children. Doug was very social and enjoyed hosting gatherings with family and friends. He loved carpentry, motorcycles, vacationing and spending time with his family. Although short, he cherished every opportunity he had with his grandchildren.

Our thoughts go to Irene, Sharon, Karen, the girls, and Terry and Jon. I know he will be deeply missed.

Growing up so far apart, I never got to see "Dougie" enough, but I know he had a huge impact on my dad's life. He was unwaveringly filial and devoted, a dependable presence when Dad himself was sick in his later years. The respect and affection they had for one another was a beautiful thing.
