Douglas Duffy

June 1, 1956 -  April 9, 2022

DUFFY, Douglas Wilford
(June 1,1956 to April 9, 2022)

Doug passed away suddenly, but peacefully of natural causes at home at the age 65 surrounded by his loving family. He will forever be missed by his devoted, loving wife, Vera and his children, Michael (Kristin) and Lindsay (Kyle). He was a cherished son of the late Wilfred (Ted) Duffy and Edith Duffy (nee Weedmark) and a caring son-in-law to Nada Talevski (nee Makrevski) and the late Kale Talevski. He will be truly missed by his siblings David (Sandy), Susan (Tom), Rob (Lynn), Kathy (Chuck), and his brother-in-law Ted Talevski (Lisa). He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Doug was a dedicated and loyal family man of integrity. He was married to his wife and best friend Vera for over 42 years. Doug thoroughly enjoyed fishing with his daughter and golfing with his son. You could often find him at his cottage or his workshop working on projects with his family in mind. He had a thirst for knowledge and he loved to share what he knew in passionate conversations. He was a lifelong Maple Leaf hockey fan. Doug had a successful career in the Civil Engineering field including working for the City of Oshawa, as Manager of Engineering Services. Doug retired in 2017 after 26 dedicated years with the City of Oshawa. In retirement, Doug spent his time with his family, working on multiple DIY projects, and taking his retirement โ€œOne Day at a Time". Friends may call at THORNTON CEMETERY & FUNERAL CENTRE, 1200 Thornton Road North, Oshawa, (South of Taunton Road and off of Dryden Blvd, 905-579-6787) on Thursday, April 14, 2022 from 11 am until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1 pm. Rest easy Mr. Duffy, you were a great neighbourhood dad who saved my life when my hood strings got caught on the monkey bars and I was being strangled and Iโ€™ll never forget you making us banana boats at the cottage but you made mine without a banana because I donโ€™t like bananas, you were puzzled on why ๐Ÿฅน ๐Ÿ’” My deepest condolences go to Vera, Mike and Lindsay, I am so sorry for your sudden loss. May you feel comfort remembering what a great man he was and know he is holding Cosmo until you all meet again. ๐Ÿ’”
