In memory of

Dorritt Pearl Bannerman

April 10, 1934 -  March 26, 2024

In Loving Memory of Dorritt Pearl Veronica Bannerman (nee "Davis")

Dorritt Pearl Veronica Bannerman (nee "Davis"), 89, passed away peacefully on March 26th, 2024, at Credit Valley Hospital. Dorritt was born to Louis Davis and Beulah Davis (nee "Rhoden") on April 10, 1934, in Spanish Town, Jamaica. She was beloved by her family, friends, and neighbors and will be deeply missed.

At the age of 28, Dorritt became the first in her family to immigrate to Canada. She sponsored her brothers Desmond and Winston, as well as her niece Sheila Dorritt Williams, who joined her in Toronto, where she made her home for the next 52 years. Over the years, she worked at Massey Ferguson, Canada Post, and later Bell.

Dorritt was known for her strength, her wicked sense of humor, and her love of cooking and entertaining for friends and family. Her sweet tooth was legendary; she never turned down a bowl of ice cream, sweets, or an extra teaspoon (or 3) of sugar in her tea. Dorritt was a storyteller, embellishing details for dramatic effect, keeping her audience hooked on every word. She was a mother; fiercely loving and protective, caring and no-nonsense. She was a true matriarch.

Dorritt is survived by her children Sharon Stanbury and Robert Bannerman (Kathie Macpherson), her step-grandchildren Talula and Julian Machado, her lifelong friend Winnifred ("Olga") Rigg (nee "Downer"), her dear sisters-in-law, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Louis Davis and Beulah Davis (nee "Rhoden"), her brothers Alvin Williams, Winston Davis, Huey Davis, and Desmond Davis.

A visitation will be held on April 4, 2024 between the hours of 4-8pm at Meadowvale Cemetery & Funeral Centre. The funeral will be held on April 5, 2024, at 10:30 am at Meadowvale Cemetery & Funeral Centre.
Please join us in honoring and celebrating Mom's life and legacy.

Dorrittโ€™s departure leaves a void in the lives of many, but her vibrant spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Let us remember her with fondness and gratitude for the joy she brought into our lives.
