In memory of

Dorothy Ramsden nee Young

On Monday, January 4th at 11:08 am a bright light went out in our lives. We lost a beautiful soul, a mother, grand-mother, and great grandmother, Dorothy Ramsden. Ma was extremely proud of her family and was the love of our lives. She left a hole in the lives of her children, Heather (David), Cindy (Hank), and John; her grandchildren, Bonnie (Kevin), Christopher (Andrea), Emily, Bryce, Nicole. She will be forever missed by her great grandchildren, Addison, Sophia, and Lily who knew her as "Old Grama". She is also dearly missed by her part-time caregiver, Melissa and her PSW, Lyra, who Ma called Lila. The love of her life, besides all her children, was Ernie. She is now by his side again, along with her beloved mother Mary, her father Alexander Young, her brothers and sister, and her infant son, John.
Ma was the "go to" person when life advise was needed. She had simple solutions to complex life problems. She just knew, and had a funny way of explaining and fixing life.
Dorothy was a kind, simple, smiley person who asked for nothing and never complained. Her good nature was known throughout her nursing home, The Wexford. Everyone she met liked her immediately, she was easy to like. A true people person, she was the life of the party and she loved to laugh and sing.
Ma turned 99 on December 10th, but she looked and acted years younger. She had no wrinkles and people were amazed at how old she really was. She laughed easily, sang loudly, loved her family fiercely, that is what kept her young.
Sadly, our mom died of Covid 19. It was heart wrenching to watch her decline through this horrible sickness. She died in the hospital cruelly, without any family by her side. We’re so sorry ma, we tried our best to save you.
Although we were extremely lucky to have our mom for all these years, it was still not enough time. We will miss our dear, sweetheart mom and she will be forever in our hearts. You taught us about love because that's what you are made of. You are our hero.
As Frank Sinatra sang, one of ma's favorite songs-
"In the wee small hours of the morning that's the time we miss her most of all."

I only ever knew her as Cindy's mom. She was always happy and smiling. She loved to laugh.
