In memory of

Dorothy Gately

November 5, 1925 -  February 19, 2021

GATELY, Dorothy Elizabeth Marguerite (nee Hudson)

Dorothy passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Feb. 19, 2021 in her 96th year. Born in Toronto and married for 67 years, Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband and soulmate, Tom, her parents, George and Dorothy Hudson, and her sister, Audrey Kileeg. She leaves behind her daughter, Beth and son, Steve, as well as her sister, Mary Bentley and her brother, Ron Hudson (Karen). Dorothy will be missed by Beth’s family (Gord and Shanna Hunter) and Steve's family (Denise; Sean and Addison Keating; and Stephanie, James, Presley, and Cassidy Jones).
Dorothy enjoyed life, with a love for her husband, children, her family, and her many friends. She was an excellent cook and baker, preparing special dinners at festive times of the year or birthday celebrations with great joy. Dorothy loved crafts, knitting, Bridge, Euchre, and Scrabble. Animals were a part of her life from a very early age, whether her own cats and dogs or caring for feral cats. Travelling was a delight, creating albums containing extremely detailed descriptions illustrating her enjoyment. Dorothy loved her job at Eastern Commerce where her work colleagues became among some of her best friends.
Dorothy had a wonderful 95 years, a long life lived well where she was loved deeply by her family. The beauty of her loving presence, her vibrant smile, her sense of humour, and her caring and love for her family will be treasured memories always. Dorothy and Tom are now joyously together.
A small private funeral will have taken place with just the immediate family at Pine Hills Cemetery and Visitation Centre, 625 Birchmount Rd., Scarborough. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. If desired, donations to Annex Cat Rescue can be made in her memory at https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/3477

I was so sorry to hear of Dorothy's passing when I opened up my email today. Dorothy was a loving and very caring person to be around. Always wanting to make others happy, with her wonderful sense of humor and laughter. Always had a wonderful smile for everyone around her. She will be forever in all our hearts, and bring a smile to all our faces, when we think of her. Her love for her husband Tom was never ending, along with her many pets and she will be at peace now knowing that she will be with the love of her life, good old Tom. My heartfelt sympathies go out to Beth and Stephen and extended family members. Alice
