In memory of

Doris Luff

May 26, 1933 -  August 3, 2021

Wife to Robert Luff, Mother to Jacqueline Renard, and Lesley Smith.
Grandmother to Paul Renard, Scott Slinn, Lisa Gozlan and Haley Shallow.
Great Grandmother of Brayden Little.

Doris was born in England, fifth child to Edward Collins and Edith Collins. Her sisters Lilly, Nell, Edith, Cathy, Patricia, and her bothers Edward, William and Terry.

Dolly was a kind, loving and caring person, who devoted her days to her family. Her four grandchildren and great grandson were her greatest pleasures. Dolly and her beloved husband Bob met after a movie with Bob looking dashing in his army uniform. They fell in love going on to spend 67 years together.

Dolly a strong vibrant woman who overcame many challenges having lived through the war and experiencing various health issues from early childhood and into her later years. She had a love for music in her early teens playing accordion moving onto the piano. Dolly was always the life and soul of the party. Dolly and Bob had a way of bringing everyone together. They would often sing duet’s at all the family celebrations while Dolly played the piano. She often frequented the local markets with her best friends Mary, Shirley and her sister-in-law Winnie on Saturday mornings. Her Sundays were spent making a traditional roast dinner for her family.

One of her other passions was bingo night. She also had a love for animals. All our family pets were spoiled by her as she slipped food under the table. She couldn’t walk by a homeless person without opening her wallet to share what she had, which in her early years was not a lot. It was in her nature to be very giving with no expectation of receiving anything in return. Dolly moved to Canada to spend her retirement with her family. She spent many summers at the family cottage with all four grandchildren, cooking, cleaning, and out on the boat with Bob.

Dolly was always at her best when she was with her family. She will be remembered and in our hearts forever.

Jackie and myself were born within 5 days of each other. We went to nursery together and primary school. Separated only by our families moving home but we remain in each others hearts.
I remember Dolly with love she always welcomed me into their home with many sleep overs, taking me on day trips and when Jackie and me went to our school holidays to Hastings each year Dolly and Bob came to see us on Sundays and included me in their days fun. I think of Dolly as my 2nd Mum.
I am proud to know this family Jackie has been a faithful friend. I share numerous happy memories of Dolly and can still hear her calling “Jacquline” as she called me “Susan” 💐

Farewell to my much-loved Aunt Dolly. All my life she was kindness itself to me. A warm welcome, friendly smile and genuine interest in my wife and in our kids when they came along. 'How are the children, Ian?' was always the first thing she said to me.
Dolly was a selfless, generous person with a great sense of fun. I particularly remember the parties at Bob and Dolly's over the years when she played the piano and everybody had such a great time singing and dancing along.
Rest in Peace, Dolly. It was a privilege to have known you.
