In memory of

Doreen Faye Myers

August 25, 1938 -  April 21, 2020

Doreen Myers, age 81, passed away peacefully at home April 21st, 2020 surrounded by family. She was born August 25th, 1938 in Kingston, Jamaica. She married the love of her life Frank Myers March 9th 1963. They immigrated to Canada in 1965, settling in Toronto. In 1966 she stated her career at York University, in the Space Science department, as an Administrative Assistant to Dr. Ralph Nicholls and continued at the university for the next 25 years.
She was the beloved mother of Gavin and Richard and proud grandmother of Merrick, Daryl, Andrew and Ava.
To say Doreen had a big personality would be a massive understatement. Doreen always left a lasting impression on anybody she encountered; this is evidenced by the outpouring of affection from the many frontline workers that cared for her in her final days.
Doreen’s passion was spending time with her friends and family. Whether is was “knockin” dominos with her Huntingdale crew or holding court at our many family functions.
Her life was a living example of her favorite Bible verse psalm 23 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death; I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
Doreen is survived by her Husband Frank; siblings Robbie (deceased), Earl, Sissy (deceased), Marion, Horace, Bev, Valarie (Mopsy); children Gavin and Richard, Daughter-in-laws Jackie, Barb; grandchildren Merrick, Daryl, Andrew and Ava and her many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved deeply.
Please join us in celebrating Doreen’s life April 24th, 2020, 1:15 PM. Because of these very unfortunate times, we are unable to share this celebration in person, so we ask that at 1:15PM EST, think of your favorite memory and if you’re so inclined take a sip of rum to honour of our beloved Doreen (we all know how much she loved her Appleton).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada https://www.diabetes.ca/donate
