In memory of

Doreen Beatrice Capstick

November 20, 1932 -  November 3, 2019

Doreen Beatrice Capstick

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our ever loving mother, Doreen Capstick
(nee Birnie) on November 3, 2019. She will be greatly missed by her children Sean ( Deanne), Adam (Carol),
and Twila ( Marty), her grandchildren Evan, Riley, Ben and Chase, her brothers Victor (Sylvia) and Stuart (Irene), nieces, nephews and loving extended family. She was predeceased by her husband Frank.
Born in England in 1932, she came to Canada in the 50's as a newlywed for a two year secondment and made Canada her home. After her husbands passing, she devoted herself to raising her three young children, sacrificing her personal life. to make ends meet, she was forced to return to work and become an administrator with the City of Etobicoke. Her kind and caring nature continued to shine during these tough years. Her resilience was truly admirable.
Her retirement allowed her to enjoy travel and take some much-deserved time to herself. Her greatest joy then became being a doting Nana to her 4 loved grandchildren.
Doreen was an avid reader and lifelong Jeopardy fan. She loved her local library book club and her sorority Beta Sigma Phi. In her memory in lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Toronto Public Library Foundation https://tplfoundation.ca/donate/

Although we lived many miles apart we kept in regular touch even though
visits became difficult in the last few years as we all inevitably aged.

Doreen was always bright and cheerful whenever we talked and was everything one would wish for a loving Sister. . She will be sadly missed.

Wonderful words for beautiful lady.
I’ll never forget the simple but very important Life Lesson you taught me and many others. Not only did you share it, you were a shining example of it.
RIP Doreen xx
