Christine was the most beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left us peacefully on August 9, 2024 after years of health difficulties. She was the heart of her family, whose warmth and light touched everyone she met.
Christine was born in Deep River to William Cowan and Ruth Dollimore. She spent her early years in small towns in Northern Ontario with her three brothers, Perry (deceased), Lyle, and Graham, along with her huge extended family. Her childhood experiences, particularly her time spent in Muskoka, shaped her into the resilient and compassionate person we all cherished.
Christine married her soulmate, Richard (Dick) Hall, in 1969 and together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and joy. Christine was the devoted mother of Christopher and Mardi Hall, and the cherished grandmother of Cara, Gavin, and Calum, who was her guiding light. She shared a special bond with her daughter-in-law, Annette Warring, and her son, Quinncy, embracing them and welcoming them into her heart with deep gratitude and love.
Christine was a plethora of knowledge. She was an avid reader, critical thinker and graduate of the University of Toronto. She devoted herself to the family insurance business, working tirelessly alongside her daughter Mardi for over 29 years, where her compassion and empathy made people feel truly cared for and protected. When she wasn’t working, she was “Glamma,” dedicated to her grandchildren. Grandma's are better than moms, and Christine proved that by always being present and putting everyone else first.
Christine could do absolutely everything and anything. She was an amazing cook who loved feeding people—her crepes were better than a master chef’s, her butter tarts unmatched, and her shortbreads so irresistible that the local bakery snagged the recipe. Christine was a talented seamstress who endearingly created generations of Halloween costumes that delighted everyone. Christine could paint, she could draw, she could inspire you with stories without needing a book, and she loved playing cards—especially bridge, with the ladies. Christine was always passionate (and competitive) about sports. Beginning with her basketball trophies in high school, she continued to excel in tennis, squash, skating, softball -pretty much any sport. Christine’s passions became golf, gardening, and being a supportive spectator.
Christine’s love was boundless, and she dedicated herself to the happiness and well-being of others. Christine was the most sought out Mother; as she was a best friend, a confidante, and a guiding star. Her infectious laugh, sparkling blue eyes, and playful sense of humour brightened every room. Her Aquarian spirit shone brightly, exuding kindness and grace. Even in her final moments, the universe seemed to honour her, as a double rainbow lit up the Muskoka sky like a beautiful bridge to heaven that reflected the spectacular life she led.
Christine could make your problems seem small and your self feel big. She made everyone feel special and was a mother figure to many. Her presence was a comfort, her margaritas were the best, and she could make you laugh until you cried. Her beauty was likened to Susan Sarandon, and Prince’s “I Would Die 4 U” perfectly captures who she was to us. She embodied selfless, unconditional love, and a spirit that transcended understanding for infinity and beyond.
“It’s so much darker when a light goes out than it would have been if it had never shone" - John Steinbeck
