Donald Maitland Carter

November 28, 1923 -  February 23, 2018

Donald Maitland Carter, passed away peacefully on Friday Feb 23rd 2018 in his 95th year, with family at his side, at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre.
Dear husband of Alison Carter, loving father of Stephen (Catherine), David(Ellen) and Roslyn (Gerry). Predeceased by dear daughter-in-law Wendy.
Don is also survived by his sister Joan Hill of Toronto and will be missed by his eight grandchildren, Jeff(Sara), Chris, Mike, Trevor, Nick(Sandra), Cameron, Duncan and Michelle, as well as six great-grandchildren, neices and nephew.
Donald was a pilot & flying officer in the RCAF Bomber Command No.50 Sqdrn, No 5 bomber group, 1942-1945 and flew his Lancaster bomber in 31 missions. After the war he had a successful career with Bell Canada.
The family thanks the staff at the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre for the outstanding care they provided during Don's tenure there.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto. Refreshments following.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Veterans Association or the Sunnybrook Veterans Make-a-Wish Fund gratefully accepted.
