It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Ball, who peacefully left us on May 1st, 2025, at the age of 90, after a courageous and lengthy battle with dementia.
Don passed away surrounded by his loving family at Quinte Hospice, where he was cared for with compassion and grace in his final days.
Don was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carole Ball, with whom he shared a deep and loving marriage that spanned many years. Carole's passing left a profound impact on Don, but he carried her love and spirit with him always. They are reunited, together once more in peace and love.
He will be deeply missed by his daughters, Susan, Jane, Bobbi, and Dawn (Jeff), who will remember him not only as a loving father, but as a steady source of wisdom, and support throughout their lives. Don was immensely proud of each of them and took great joy in watching them grow into strong, compassionate individuals.
He was also a proud grandfather to Joshua, Jesse, Bradley, Owen, and Kevin, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Whether it was sharing stories from his younger days, offering guidance, or simply spending quiet moments together, Don found true happiness in his role as “Papa.” His eyes would light up with pride at their achievements, and his love for them was unconditional and enduring.
He will be dearly missed by his siblings, as well as by a large circle of long-time friends, whose lives he touched with his kindness and generosity.
Don will be remembered by companion, Muriel Thibert.
A proud and dedicated veteran of the Korean War, Don served with distinction. After his military service, Don went on to have a long and successful career with the Toronto Fire Department, from which he retired after many years of dedicated service.
Don's family takes comfort in knowing that his legacy of service, love, and strength will continue to inspire those who knew him.
