In memory of

Donald Joseph Worth

July 24, 1932 -  October 22, 2021

Don passed away unexpectedly at home on October 22, 2021. Predeceased by his dear wife Patricia Worth and survived by sons Ken (Michèle) and David, granddaughter Maya (Michel) and great-granddaughter Liliana.

Don was born to Harry and Gladys Worth in Haileybury, Ontario, but grew up in South Porcupine. Following in his father’s footsteps, Don started to work summers at the gold mine at the age of 16. He went on to graduate from University of Toronto in Mining Engineering where he also received his Masters in Economics and Mining. His first employment was with ASARCO Mining in Parral, Mexico as a Mine Foreman. Being fluent in Spanish as well as French, they moved in 1958 to Thetford Mines, QC, then to Caledonia, ON and Black Lake, QC, before settling in Toronto where he was employed as a CIBC Mining Specialist to later become Vice-President of Natural Resources. Don’s work at the CIBC bank took him and Pat all over the world. He developed a multitude of relationships with major-league players in the mining industry but always took time in his busy schedule to mentor many. Don held many other positions within the Canadian Mining industry, such as President of the Canadian Institute of Metallurgy (1996-1997). After his retirement, he served on the board of directors of numerous mining and investment companies.

Don was a devout New York Rangers and Blue Jays fan, and an active member of his church. He was passionate about sing-alongs, joke-telling, curling and gardening, and his generous and loving spirit shone through countless family gatherings and memorable parties. Beloved by all, he will be profoundly missed.

A contribution to the Bayview United Church, 2609 Bayview Ave., Toronto would be appreciated.
